Writing Projects
Here are some examples of my projects from college. I chose work from my senior year because I noticed a clear improvement in my language compared to earlier projects. Three of the assignments are from my technical writing course, and the poster presentation is from my Environmental Capstone course.
Technical Description
This technical description explores the hidden technologies of snowboards. It breaks down how specific components affect ride quality and board responsiveness. The piece is intended to give readers a clearer understanding of snowboard design.
Instruction Set
This instructional guide explains the essential steps for shooting film with a Canon FTb camera, including loading film, adjusting settings, focusing, and capturing images. It is designed for beginners who have yet to shoot their first roll of film.
Writing Sample #1
This poster was paired with a technical presentation at the 2024 Design Showcase for Civil Engineers. Its purpose was to have effective graphics, short chunks of text, and concise data to describe our team's design choices.
Writing Sample #2
This project was the redesign of the poster for Westerly Parkway's Stormwater Basin in State College, Pennsylvania. The original poster was paired with an oral presentation, and the redesign was part of my technical writing course.
These memos highlight what I learned from each writing sample, what makes each project valuable in a career setting, and what employers should take away from each example.
